Moisture Control Foil, Sarking and Wraps

Moisture-Control

Moisture in your home may lead to mould, water damage and rot which impacts on your health and the structural integrity of your home. AGI’s extensive range of foils and wall wraps, roof sarking and vapour permeable membranes provide effective long term moisture control. AGI has an extensive range of breather and non-breather foils and wraps to suit most applications.

Roof Sarking

Roof sarking is a pliable laminated membrane that forms a protective second skin under your roof. It can be installed when building a house, doing home extensions, a home renovation or roof restoration. It is positioned under your roof during installation by the builder and is rolled out in sections either parallel or perpendicular to the eaves with an overlap between each layer.

Roof sarking will protect the frame of your house from the weather during construction. When your home is completed, sarking will protect your roof cavity from storm driven rain and dust, improve it’s thermal performance, help it resist bush fire ember attack and reduce the risk of harmful condensation.

  • Roof sacking improves thermal performance by shielding the home from up to 97% of radiant heat when combined with an air-space, helping to provide a more energy efficient and comfortable home.
  • Vapour permeable sarking reduces the risk of condensation formation by allowing water vapour to be effectively managed and safely drained away. All sarking helps protect your home from unseen mould growth or even worse, ceiling staining or permanent damage which can result from the entry of storm driven rain into the roof cavity.
  • Limits dust entering the home through gaps around down lights and vents by reducing draughts that blow dust into the roof space.
  • Roof sarking is mandatory in all BAL 12.5 to 40 rated areas to meet the bush fire ember attack requirements in accordance with Australian Standard 3959, where it provides a secondary form of ember protection for the roof space.

Wall Wraps

The AGI range of wall wrap products can provide a number of benefits to make your home more comfortable to live in and reduce the risk of condensation formation which can lead to mould.  Wall wraps are pliable building membranes that are applied to the outside of the building frame and offer benefits during construction, as well as when the home is complete. By protecting the frame, insulation and structure, wall wrap can further improve the comfort of your home.

The installation of wall wrap (either permeable or non-permeable) can help reduce air-flow around insulation and through the building cavity, allowing the insulation to work more efficiently. Condensation management is an important part of the selection process and should consider the location and building design as wall wrap.
  • Reflective wall wrap helps to shield your home from radiant heat by contributing a reflective R-Value which improves the overall thermal insulation value of the wall structure when positioned adjacent to an air cavity.
  • Helps to protect against the health and structural effects of condensation formation behind internal linings by providing either a vapour barrier or vapour permeable layer around the home.
  • Helps to reduce draughts in the wall cavity which allows wall insulation to work more effectively while reducing air infiltration into the home.
  • In some lightweight cladding construction types such as fibre cement sheet, wall wrap is recommended as a water barrier by the cladding manufacturer so be sure to check when you • Reduces construction time as some internal trades are able to commence work while the external cladding is being applied. It also reduces the amount of moisture absorbed by the building frame during construction.

Product Overview

Below is an overview of some of the many moisture control sarkings and wraps available from AGI.

Bradford Thermoseal Roof Sarking

Thermoseal reflective foil roof sarking is a non-permeable, vapour barrier product designed to reduce the transmission of moisture into the home and contribute a reflective air gap R-Value to the roof system when positioned to adjacent to an inward or outward facing air cavity.  These products are recommended for use in warmer climates where they provide insulation against radiant heat and reduce the flow of water vapour from the outside environment into the home.

  • Improves the R-Value of the roof system by contributing a reflective air-gap R-Value – this can be up to RT1.8 (summer heat flow down down)
  • Reduces the transmission of water vapour through the building structure
  • Improves energy efficiency by reducing draughts allowing insulation to work more effectively
  • Protects the building frame from decay by reducing the entry of wind driven rain and dust.

Bradford Thermoseal Wall Wrap

Thermoseal reflective foil wall wraps are non-permeable, vapour barrier products designed to reduce the transmission of moisture into the home. They are able to contribute a reflective air gap R-Value to the wall system when positioned to adjacent to an inward or outward facing air cavity.  These products are recommended for use in warmer climates where the risk of condensation formation exists as the temperature of the outside environment rises, while the inside of the home is cooled.

  • Improves the R-Value of the wall system by contributing a reflective air-gap R-Value
  • Reduces the transmission of water vapour through the building structure
  • Improves energy efficiency by reducing draughts allowing insulation to work more effectively
  • Protects the building frame from decay by reducing the entry of wind driven rain and dust.

Enviroseal ProctorWrap

ProctorWrap roof sarking is a vapour permeable product that allows water vapour to pass through it, whilst preventing the entry of liquid water and dust from outside. When used in colder climates where there is more moisture inside the home than outside, it allows moisture in the air to pass through the membrane before condensing to water (condensation) safely on the outside of the building frame where it does not damage the home.

This product is recommended for use in colder climates where the risk of condensation formation increases as the temperature of the outside environment falls, while the inside of the home is heated.

Enviroseal ProctorWrap also improves the air tightness of your roof cavity and reduces draughts, which helps insulation to work better and limits dust entering the home through gaps around down lights and vents.  This helps to improve energy efficiency as well as creating a healthier and more comfortable home.

  • Reduces the risk of condensation formation inside the building frame in cold climates*
  • Improves energy efficiency by reducing draughts allowing insulation to work more effectively
  • Protects the building frame from decay by reducing the entry of wind driven rain and dust.
